The main duties of this job are to plan lessons, coordinate activities and work weekly camps at Killens Pond State Park. These camps are for children 4 years to 13 years old. Summer camp staff will supervise, lead, help create and maintain a fun, positive and safe camp environment for campers, and interns throughout the summer. Communicate with supervisor, camp parents, and park staff providing a detailed weekly agenda including travel. Camps begin mid June and run through mid-August, Monday – Friday 9am – 4pm. Must be able to work all camps, attend all trainings and participate in all camp activities. In addition, camp directors have specific leadership duties such as supervising the camp team, managing supplies, camper paperwork, or cleaning.

Job Duties:

· Plan and lead daily activities for summer camps.

· Lead outdoor sport activities such as canoeing, kayaking, and fishing.

· Develop and deliver nature-based hikes, games and activities outside.

· Must be able to stand for long periods.

· Must be able to walk a minimum of a mile in uneven terrain.

· Ensure a fun, educational and safe environment for children.

· Provide oversight and direction for interns and other camp staff.

· Must be dependable and have good communication skills.

· Maintain a positive attitude.

· At least 20 years of age.

· Other duties as required.

o During Camp Season must be available Monday - Friday

Condition of Hire:

• Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. DNREC does not provide sponsorship for holders of H-1 B Visas.
• Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
